pope the people laughing at these comments about the SQBL A finials would be laughing more at yet another colossal stuff up by BQ then the comments made on the form. i agree with bigtime baseball in this state is dwindling as i have stated before and we can only really hold one organization accountable. like pope,Lyn have said before our clubs are run by volunteers and they work way to hard and to many ours to get players into the game and they are let down my the mother organization time after time. these people are the ones hardest hit. give our volunteers a chance give us players a chance to make this game great in Queensland again by making good decisions, far decisions, right decisions.

well pope.......that is exactly the type of crappy attitude we don't want..."I don't care how your finals are played"......
That's pretty typical coming from an administrator.......you should care, you are in a position where you need to.
If this was a Major A or B grade discussion, you would care then......

Wow Pope your comments are pretty negative and actually a little immature... How old are you?
I'm not too sure why you are continuing to suggest that everyone should contact BQ direct when you know darn well this is not appropriate... Why are you trying to cause trouble...
Congratulations on working out the statistics of people on the forum to people on the minors thread... I hope your mummy didn't mind helping you with the math...
Your comments about how people are laughing at us and don't really care are really negative. And I'm just wondering how you would know??? Did all 200 people on the forum privately contact you to ask you to speak on thier behalf...
Pope the way you are trying to put us and our arguement down indicates that you may have a hidden agenda... Are you from one of the clubs that are gaining an unfair and undeserved advantage from this outragous travesty of justice...
And you don't have any inteligent debate on the issue because you know this is wrong. So all you can do is throw around negative comments that try to discredit us and advise us to cause trouble with BQ...
But we will stay on topic and we will stay here on the forum. This is the medium for us to voice our concerns. And BQ do have a responsibility to take note. Direct contact with BQ should be directed through club officials.
None of your comments change a thing. This is still a dodgy decision that now allows lower ranked teams an easier path to a grand final. A decision that was made only weeks before the end of the competition... dodgy... A decision that creates unprecedented conditions that are totally out of line with all senior baseball across the country...
And the saddest part is that the new precedent has now been set... Running a fair and equal competition is not the priority in Queensland Baseball anymore...
What a shame...

well said justme, its just a pitty that this is all going on this can be ressolved as quickly as it was started, and that is the real shame here is that people are willing to hear all this going on and not put a far stop to it, hold a 3 game final series like there have alway been and no doubt always will be from this year on and all are happy. even the pope cause he doesn't even care how the finals are played.
come on do the right thing

congratulations BQ, the poll should indicate broader levels of frustration with the finals debacle. It highlights the significance of the on-line forum and the committment of the 'minors' community to fair and equitable process. I hope that this poll is used responsibly by all parties and in-turn respected and taken seriously should a majority indicate that the current format is unacceptable. Baseball in the greater Brisbane region has the potential to once again reach the standard expressed by dj quite eloquently in previous posts-however, this will only happen if the mums and dads, aunties, uncles and significant others feel that they are introducing their kids to a transparent and nurturing environment that doesn't wreak of the elitism that cirumscribes the more 'affluent' sporting bodies. The standards that we set in 2010 will affect where BQ stands in 2020, and fortunately or otherwise,it happens from the top down.

Hey Williemays there are only 30 votes because BQ shut down the voting yesterday afternoon. And we were promised the vote would run for a full week… Also note that when the vote was stopped the count was 30 for a "3 game finals" and 3 for "doesn’t affect me so it’s not an issue"... But please note the most telling statistic THERE WERE ZERO VOTES FOR A 2 GAME FINAL SERIES... Why because it is just not right...
It is very clear that BQ didn't like the overwhelming public backlash over this BQ created controversy and the arrogant and condescending manner in which they have handled it...
The fact that they have stopped the vote just proves that all that has been posted on this forum to be correct. BQ has messed this up and created this controversy. And rather that use their authority to do the right thing and fix the issue they have used their authority to try and cover it up and silence the criticism. Criticism that is well deserved as their handling of this has just been disgraceful...
In Australia we have the right to freedom of speech and the right to be heard. Those rights should not change because we play Baseball in Queensland. Turn the vote back on and allow people to have their say...
Willie you ask just how much of a stand will the people take... What sort of comment is that??? Do you benefit if the top teams move aside or something???
Yes you are correct. This is about the rules and format being changed that does unfairly deny the top teams the advantage they spent all season earning. But it is also about how this unfairly gives that advantage to teams who did not earn it. Effectively BQ have offered assistance to the lower ranked teams by changing the rules and the format only weeks before the finals, by giving them an easier path to a grand final.
Not only is this unjust and wrong it sets a terrible precedent that this can happen again. So yes this is about the game. What is stopping this from happening to your team next year....
The real tragedy here is that this does damage the game long-term. The Minors have been treated very second rate here and these are the people that are the future committee members, club coaches, volunteers and parents of the next generation of baseballers. These people are angry and the way BQ have handled this in their arrogant and condescending way has only made things worse. People will remember this for a long time and that is very damaging to the game… BQ should be very concerned about this but it seems they are not…
Maybe BQ should take some advice from Kate23 and get a public relations expert. Because it is clear they are not equipped to cope in these situations…
You turned off the vote because it wasn’t going your way… what a joke…

After 21 years of playing, I'm walking away.
The people who run the competition for a number of years now, have not been serious in their approach.
There are a few examples over the past couple of years: 1. The standard of grounds a couple of years ago. Still really hasnt been addreessed. 2. Criteria for playing majors or the top comp. Its a moving target every year. 3. Rules around playing up or down and in finals. 4. Scheduling of games - this year PH to play Ipswich 1st week in minors, but hang on jnr tournament on. So where what field is it played on? and what about volunteers? 5. Minor A commissioners cup - gone. No reason 6. Minors Finals - sure they surveyed the clubs. But how is this accurate. Isnt that why we pay to have the comp run for us? 7. Must wear green or yellow shirt and must be qualified to umpire. How many games are umpired by non qualified people? What is the punishment to clubs who dont obey the rules? 8. Better yet, lets run the old C grade at 2pm in the arvo for finals. There hasnt been a SQBL or whatever game at 2pm all year and old C grade never played at 2pm. This is the main game. 9. Unless clubs submit stats by a certain time excluded from league awards. 10. The stuff up with the B grade comp
Thats 10 thats enough.
As a full paid player, I think the rest of members need to know, as a minimum who designed the competition this year and at what stage did they realise the finals system for minors wasnt going to work and the b grade real comp was only 1/2 a season?
Do we members get access to this information? Do we members get a say in who runs the comp?
If it was a business, someone would be accountable and action taken.
IF BQ was a business or a government, they would realise their mistake and change the finals back at least 9am. YES ITS CALLED A BACKFLIP.
Redcliffe has teams in all grades for finals, so does all stars, and yet they cant support each other due to an admin decision.

and so it continues. One week a junior is allowed to pitch and catch in the same day. Now the farce with Padres Friday night game down to the coast. People say talk to BQI. Been tried, no interest. Like "overit" i am not far behind you. AS JM (Rest in Peace) once said "don't worry about anyone taking over baseball, it will self destruct itself.
