This might not be what some of you want to hear, but it's a fact. With the Minors season starting on the 27th, every grade will play more baseball this year than previously. Last year, there were 18 rounds before finals. This year Minor grades will play between 20, 21 or 22 rounds depending on the number of teams in their comp. The Majors were started much earlier than usual because of the need to have a preliminary round in Major A to fit in with the new format. I know that in my club, the President tried for several weeks to arrange preseason games for our Minors and was unsuccessful until he approached a fourth club. Where were you all then???

Guys all relevant points. But the point is the BQI did have a cut off date for team registration for the Minors. This date came and went because some clubs were not organised. So the BQI had a brilliant idea to hold up the enitire league until they were... Now a bad precedent has been made for the future...
Also this thread was started on this website (BQI website) on 18th September. And there has been good support for this topic. Why wouldn't BQI post something.... anything at all.... to put peoples minds at ease.... Even just a short note to say yes we are still on track for the rescheduled start date of 27th September.
Surely someone from BQI has taken notice and could give an explaination...
Guys just tell us when we can play ball...

Hey Wildpitch I hope you are from my club... Because we too have been desperatly trying to get a game for weeks. We have had to resort to inter-club games each week. These have been very one sided games and its getting hard to keep the team interested....

Great points "justme" - yes and lets hope there is more exposure and communication on this website (BQI) about content for the minors.
Ramsfan44 - baseball won't start in Vic until after the afl and local footy seasons are well and truely finished. It's a local Vic thing.
I was critical in my earlier posts about the lack of info on the start of the minors comp. - Well done to whom is resposible for the posting of the comp schedule. Credit and praise when deserved.
Finally minor members have something to review and participate in with their teams.

I have played both Majors and Minors many years in Brissy. In regards to BVIC Summer League, you should check the VIC Forum discussion board as many are unhappy that no fixtures on the VIC website yet, they have a very strong Winter league also in VIC. My opinion is that Clubs need to be more accountable and responsible before everyone is so quick to blame BQ and GBL. Baseball is a small sport in Aussie and we all need to help each other to grow whether it be our new ABL team, Local Majors, Minors and Juniors/ Little League/Mightee ball. Minors Seniors level is for sure a great grass roots area for baseball and should become stronger in Brisbane, I agree 100%. I have no involvement in the club but I am very impressed with Carina Redsox having a go back in Majors, but more so they have great recruitment numbers in the Minors and Juniors and moving forward. Hooray, my game this week has been cancelled because Musketeers found something better to do with their fields in the meantime while waiting for the draw to come out. Fantastic! They better not call the game a draw. And as for you: This might not be what some of you want to hear, but it's a fact. This year Minor grades will play between 20, 21 or 22 rounds depending on the number of teams in their comp. This is a pathetic attempt to rationalise the fact that we pay the same fees for less games, which of course have gone up something like 12%. Especially since the season started tremendously late last season. Using it as a basis for any argument seems disingenuous. What really bugged me throughout this was having no idea when the draw would be out and when we would be starting. A viewpoint shared by a number of people here I imagine. The biggest factor in the number of games we play always turns out to be the weather. So since the weather in September is more reliable than January it's upsetting to miss a couple of sunny weekends before it even gets too hot. If it's particularly rainy this season we may not even play as many as last season. At least the mid season break is only two weeks. /end bitching Let's hope we get to play next weekend.

Hey Douglas. Sorry that you are so upset with my "pathetic" attempt at trying to explain that the situation might not be as drastic as everyone thinks.
Sorry that your game has been cancelled but if your team wanted a game so much, I'm sure you can ring around a few clubs to find a field free... you still have time you know...it's only Saturday morning (heaven forbid that you do something for yourselves instaed of waiting for others to do it for you!).
Also, judging from the draw, I'll let you know that your club was one that our club contacted to arrange some pre-season practice games with but they were too busy...so much for wanting to play in September??

Hey Douglas, as wildpitch said, it's not too late to find an alternative field you guys can play. Find the field where no one plays 9:00 game tomorrow or why not your game start 11:30? Eg: Beenleigh SQBL A is playing at home while thier majors are playing away game.
Wish you guys can play a game tomorrow at somewhere available & buy beers after game at the canteen. The hosting field club should be happy to earn $50-$100 extra profit. Good luck!

Is there any reason why the game could not have been moved to PH? , There are no Majors games there 27th Sept.

Douglas, you obviously have no idea what you are saying. The U16 state titles were announced at Musketeers in July, they haven't organised it while waiting for fixtures to come out.
Also as wildpitch said, a bit of initiative from the away team, which is so eager to play from what it sounds, may find you a place to play.
Redlands, Rapids, Southern Stars, Pine Hills and Logan have no games all day tomorrow. Honestly, you can't go bitching about it. And what do you want it called other than a draw? A forfeit?
As for fee's, it all depends on your club, not BQI. Musketeers have stayed around the $300 mark, so don't go firing off at Baseball Queensland for that.

Both Rapids and Logan do not have any teams nominated in the draw for SQBL Minors.

Jeez, my first post was not nearly clear enough and was obviously clouded by a sour mood over going another week without our team playing. In my haste I glossed over why I didn't want it to be called a "draw", and that I felt Musketeers was within their right to hold whatever at their grounds in the absence of a draw being out seven days beforehand. I certainly didn't realise that BQ should never have even thought about holding the game at Musketeers, ignorance is apparently not endearing, nor my tone apparently. Hey Douglas. Sorry that you are so upset with my "pathetic" attempt at trying to explain that the situation might not be as drastic as everyone thinks. Pathetic was clearly the wrong word, and I misjudged your motives. When someone swings by on what I perceive as the high horse, saying, "Dudes, chill. Stop being babies, your points are invalid." I get a little riled. No need for me to be a dick about replying I guess. My point was fine we'll play more games than last year probably, but that doesn't excuse the fact that Minors has taken a backseat to Majors. People may say that Majors is more important and who cares about Minors, but that wasn't your point. Sorry that your game has been cancelled but if your team wanted a game so much, I'm sure you can ring around a few clubs to find a field free... you still have time you know...it's only Saturday morning (heaven forbid that you do something for yourselves instaed of waiting for others to do it for you!). Yay now you make an assumption, I guess fair enough considering that I gave no information, but both teams did a fair bit to get the game on, and obviously changing grounds was suggested, since as pointed out Pine Hills was free. But perhaps you're simply being flippant. Also, judging from the draw, I'll let you know that your club was one that our club contacted to arrange some pre-season practice games with but they were too busy...so much for wanting to play in September?? I definitely wanted to play in September, and have thanks to being lucky enough to fill in for B grade. Now about not being able to play at Musketeers, I never intended to place the blame for us not being able to play on anyone on either side. Although since this is the U16 state titles, organised in July apparently, I really can't understand how our game ever got scheduled at Musketeers, that doesn't make a lot of sense. I understand that both clubs did a lot of work to get the game on, however it's always going to be tough to organise a game outside of the pre-scheduled times that everyone plans around. Fortunately, they worked very hard and got a final decision out quickly. My previous post I will point out was written after it'd be made clear that our team would not be playing. And I don't think Musketeers should be forfeited, I just don't want it counted as a drawn game, as that isn't good for either teams winning percentage. Since this was no fault, it hardly seems right that both should suffer. Ultimately I just want to play baseball with the same group of guys every week. Playing up and filling in is fine, but if I was good enough for B grade, I'd be playing B grade, so it's not a lot of fun if you hurt a teams chance at winning. Of course I probably shouldn't have brought fees up, clubs need them be able to have games. Oh well, our team will no doubt be playing next week, weather permitting. Hopefully I don't piss a lot of people off this time. No doubt I will offend someone, the Internet is after all, serious business.
