Carina clearing up all the debt are they.Going to pay fees on time. Going to pay fees at all. Why don't C grade go to toowoomba the day before like B and A do and have a night out with the team?

Carina and Toowoomba back in majors? That should raise the overall standard of the A grade comp. Cut back the number of teams to 10 and have a 2nd tier comp for the rest. As it stands now the overall standard of A grade is ordinary. Makes it tough for Claxton shield players to prepare to compete against the best in the country. 17, maybe you need to ask some more A grade players whether they like travelling to Toowoomba. Those who love it because of the bonding session should probably be playing in the 2nd tier comp anyway.

That 1 single trip to toowoomba in 12 months is a real killer huh!! If you don't know the effect of a team bonding trip, then nothing i say will change your mind.I don't know if 3 ex pros 5 ex ABL, 1 olympian and 2 current clacko players are 2nd tier.Beenleigh hawks 05 team. My friends and brothers for life.

Most guys I play with in A-grade love the Toowoomba trip. Though letting them into majors isn't going to improve the quality of the league.

So my opinion - compact the top end, but expand the base! That's exactly it. To reduce the top number of teams, you need to define a criteria which determines who is in that top tier, and who isn't. A sustainable club contributing to the development of the game, is paramount. If you think it's not, then you obviously aren't thinking about the sport long-term.

[/quo I agree it won't make the league stronger because its only the imports from the uni plus my dear friends BUZZ BROWN and LUCKY ( and keep your eye on fireballer SAM MCNIECE) who keep us honest, but it really is a great weekend away. Maybe a one off comp would work..How are those ribs lucky. Didn't mean it.

If the rumours are correct and there is a national league next year surely there is an opportunity to revamp the whole Brisbane competition. If you take out the top 20 or so players from the comp the overall standard will suffer. More reason to get tougher with the criteria and get the A grade down to 8 teams with a second tier comp for the rest.

At time of this Post, 28 Forum members have registered but only 12 Forum Voters on the POLL so far.
If you have not already, have your VOTE for next seasons GBL MAJOR A Team Numbers and have your say.
So far 10 Teams is the popular Vote.
After the 2008-2009 Major A Grand Final is complete, I will Lock the Poll and submit the results to Baseball QLD for their Information and decision making process for next season. The more Forum members that Vote, the more weight the Poll will carry.
Although the Forum system shows who has Voted, the actual vote selection is totally anonymous.
Cheers BQ Mod.

Has anyone heard anything about the fallout from the Rapids situation?
They forfeited the Commissioners Cup and their b grade has 4 forfeits so far this year. How do they field a team this weekend with the u18s away

Has anyone heard anything about the fallout from the Rapids situation? They forfeited the Commissioners Cup and their b grade has 4 forfeits so far this year. How do they field a team this weekend with the u18s away Surely Rapids committee and BQ are discussing this early this week for a resolution? Anyone on here would only be speculating or opinionating. The GBL rule is black and white. 3 Forfeits results in Comp exclusion for that team. Then how does that affect Major A Criteria? In all this messy saga I truly feel sorry for the Rapids A+B players that just want to go out and play ball each week. But there are 13 Club interests to consider also. This is a curly one, but I'd support BQ 100% in what ever they decide in the ongoing best interest of the Comp. and the 13 Clubs. It seems to me that from majority of posters comments on here, next season 10 Team A+B only stronger comp sounds viable with higher quality baseball every week. No Byes and get rid of the North/South conference. Instead of clubs invited to Majors, they are invited to fulfill criteria for one of the 10 Majors spots.

Don't kick them out of the comp - logistically that would be a nightmare. Just make them ineligible for finals. That's logical to me.

If you kick them out of the comp, they complain to the media They just won't be able to make it next season unless they do something drastic about the state of the club

you guys need to know that if you play c and then b you cant sit or play a that day, they were acouple of years thinking of haveing just b the a with both playing 9 inns but they didnt due to the fact you need a result and in b grade play say 12 or more you start to late the standard has dropped i agree, its due to the guys in b grade that shuold be playing a grade get keeped back and clubs either go and get imports who stay half a season or they get from other clubs or states.
