First game against Country NSW ended up with a 12-4 loss. Lucas Bakker started and went 5 scoreless innings. Qld scored the fisrt 3 runs of the game in the top of the 6th but Country replied with 3 of their own in the bottom of the 6th. Relief pitching for Qld was most disappointing with Nicholson, Kilby & Mills all being used without success while a few untimely errors didn't help. Campbell (4-5) & O'Gorman (2-3) swung well while Boofy was unlucky not to get a home run after the umpire ruled a foul ball. Next game tonight at 7pm v WA.

Game 2: 17-8 loss to WA Amazing scoreline considering Qld Rams led 8-4 after 6 innings and 8 all after 8 innings. Same story as yesterday, the bullpen was again very ordinary giving up 13 runs in the last 3 innings. Thats a total of 22 runs in 2 games the Qld bullpen has given up. Josh Warner started and after a shaky start settled down and pitch very well. The bats are slowly finding form with Daniel Muggleton & Jake Cole hitting back to back home runs while Andrew Campbell continued his fine form with 2 more hits tonight (should have been 3 except for a dodgy umpiring call at first base). There are 5 more games in the first round and Qld must win 4 to be any chance of finishing in the top 4. Tomorrows game is 1.30 against the strong Vic Blue team.

Game 3 resulted in a disappointing 12-2 loss to Victoria. Pitching again was disappointing with way too many walks being thrown by our pitchers. TJ Nicolson pitched well late in relief but the damage was done early. The batters continue to struggle to find gaps although Muggleton hit good and the game highlight was a home run by Nick Paine. With 4 games remaining in the first round the rams must win all 4 and hope other results go their way to be any chance to finish in the top pool.

Game 4 was an exciting game and our best so far but we still came up short with a 9-7 loss to SA. Pitchers AJ Elderkin & Brendan Meagher battled away quite well in very hot conditions. We were always behind on the scoreboard but the team constantly battled back. Our best chance came in the top of the 8th when we had loaded bases and none out but SA made a pitching change and we were not able to score. Ryan Battaglia found form with 3 hits as did Dan Nilsson with a long home run to RF. Connor O'Gorman also had a good day with a double and a 2 run Homer.

Game 5 and it was our first win defeating Vic White 12-2. Starting pitcher Lucas Bakker was again very impressive while Jamie Weeks did a fine job in relief. The team as a whole batted very well with many players getting multiple hits but Boof Battaglia was the pick having a great day smashing 2 home runs over left field to the delight of his big fan club. Next game will be very tough as we take on the strong NSW team on field 3 at 4pm.

Game 6 ended up with an unlucky 11-10 loss to NSW. The team held an early 5 run lead but NSW were able to claw their way back and eventually take an 11-8 lead. We also fought to the end but came up 1 run short. Josh Warner started and pitched an excellent 6 1/3 innings before being replaced. Hitters Dan Nilsson (2 doubles), Ryan Battaglia (triple, single) plus Guy Price & Daniel Muggleton all had 2 hits each. Todays game is 4pm v Territories and the heat is expected to reach a ridiculous 44 degrees.

What happened here. I have heard the Qld lost when the game resumed but that, initially, there was a mix-up with the scorers. BQ North...where are you. Enlighten us to the drama please?

Yes scorers made a mistake when they thought a runner scored early in the game. When Qld walked in the tying run in the bottom of the 9th the umpires were told it was 7-6 and called it. Both teams started to pack up but the Qld coach was not so sure and double checked, found the mistake and realised it was still 6 all. Players had already left the field and after much discussion it was decided to finish the game under the lights after the current scheduled night game. Eventually after about 3 1/2 hours the game continued. With 2 out and loaded bases Daniel Muggleton went into pitch and with 2 strikes the hitter lined one to 3rd base who jumped high but could not hold on and the game was won 7-6.

1st game of the playoffs was a comfortable 12-4 win v Country NSW. TJ Nicholson threw a very good 6 innings then Brendon Meagher pitched a perfect last 2 innings before rain ended the game in the top of the 9th. Best at bat was Guy Price with 4 hits followed by Nick Paine and Matt Corbitt with 3 hits each. Stolen bases were also plenty with a team total of 13 with Dan Nilsson & Matt Corbitt having 3 each.
