I'm taking a punt and I would guess you aren't a Rugby League player yet you would still turn upto a Broncos game. The majority of Bronco supporters are not Rugby League players so the issue with baseball and league are two different things entirely. QLD Rugby League is mainly played on Saturday afternoon and juniors in the mornings and while there would be some conflict with games, it definitley isn't a Major issue as we are not talking about every team playing at the same time the Broncs play. The current market for baseball is baseball players, so to have ABL and seniors at the same time is suicide. Consider seniors don't actually get a crowd and the majority of an ABL crowd would be Senior players who bring their kids. A-League had the same problem with the Roar playing at the same time as the local comp. Seems they still have a problem though.
My own thoughts are why put an already struggling sport in competition with itself. [/quote]
exactly !

Its plain and simple, the ABL will not survive without drastic changes, and there is alot from players to venues and crowds, seems to need alot of improvement in less then 12 months, the Americans can only do so much

Exactly right.
What are we doing to ensure that we're not pushing the clubbie away from the game? Playing fees are higher each year. Numbers appear to be down. Quality of play is getting lower. Communication is as poor as its always been. (Was there a schedule of the Rams pre-season games vs 18's? Maybe I missed it. Do the 16's have any pre-tournament games? Is there a Junior or Senior All star game?) Our best in the state can't compete with other states.
We are already struggling -- how are we ensuring success when broadening our scope?
I'm all for the ABL. I'm looking forward to watching quality play again.

I agree 100% How much would it cost to place an ad in a local Quest newspaper like our baseball results are everyweek about the time and venue for the claxton. Without grassroots baseball the ABL will not work, our club players like me supports this like our familys, friends and close ones come with us to support other players. Will the new Qld team be run more professionally next year or the same coaches etc? Nothing against the current ones but if there are import players coming are there coaches and support staff coming?

Because the ABL don't care about the Claxton Shield on a marketing scale. This year isn't meant to attract new fans, it's been mentioned numerous times.
I'm guessing it'll be run more professionally because it will be a professional competition.
All the questions you asked above are answered in the interview with Peter Wermuth, it's worth a listen.

Any truth to the rumor of the Northern Territory Pride baseball team in the abl, was in the paper up there, would be new and exiting if they get in!

I'd guess you would know about expansion teams if you didn't pass on the interview
