Ramsrus, the top athletes in any sport are at the top because they are so competitive and hate to lose. This is Claxton Shield and they should be playing with passion and agression, it's not childrens participation sport where every child wins a trophy and we dont keep score. As for some of the comments from the opposition, South Australia have been perennial cellar dwellars for the last 20 years, so just because they are having a good couple of weeks their opinion doesnt mean sh** to anyone in baseball.

I don't think you can talk for everyone in baseball and as long as you accept that not giving a sh** about people's opinions works both ways, then that's fine. Whether you give a sh** about my opinion on this or not is your prerogative, but I think a lot of people will give a sh** if they win this.

heart will only get you so far, and then talent will take over. SA looks like it is one of the contenders for this year, and congrats to them for stepping it up.
Lets be realistic, some of the stuff said on this forum is bs, other states should be laughing at all the bitching going on in QLD baseball... or have they been laughing for years?

Show me someone who is a good sport and they are usually the loser.
Ramsrus, the opinion I was referring to was South Australia's players opinion, and no, I don't give a sh** what they think.

I'm not sure if any other state is intimidated by what we say or how we play. If you perform on the field, your smack talking carries a little more weight. I'd prefer my players to play top ball and let that speak for us. I don't know too many MLB players who use that type of game prep, But, if that's what it takes to fire you up for a better game, good.

Just read this on the BQI website "David Nilsson will be one of the first 150 inductees into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame."
What a fantastic achievement! Congrats Dave!!!

Surfing the internet an found some great info on baseball including these quotes:
No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda
Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona. ~George F. Will, Men at Work: The Craft of Baseball, 1990
To a pitcher, a base hit is the perfect example of negative feedback. ~Steve Hovley, 1969
I have observed that baseball is not unlike war, and when you get right down to it, we batters are the heavy artillery. ~Ty Cobb
Baseball is too much of a sport to be called a business, and too much of a business to be called a sport. ~Philip Wrigley
Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good too. ~Greg, age 8
Good sportsmanship is when teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials treat each other with respect. Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from the adults in their lives, especially their parents and their coaches. Kids who see adults behaving in a sportsmanlike way gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity — whether they win or lose a game. – kidshealth.org
"I'll tell you what happens," said Detroit Tigers manager Phil Garner. "When you're on a streak, everything you do turns out great. You can pinch-hit a left-hander against a left-handed pitcher and he's going to get a double. You can pinch-run a slow guy and hell steal a base. You can bring in the wrong guy for the matchup and he strikes him out. But when you're in a slump, all the right moves turn out wrong. And it's that way for players, too. You can do all the right match-ups and they won't work. You can bring in a pitcher that has faced a guy who has gotten just one hit off him in 12 at-bats and the guy laces a double down the line. That's what happens when you're in a slump."
"The name Derek Jeter is made for stardom. He's got an infectious smile, and he's so handsome and well-behaved. He's just a fine young man who does everything right. He's like Jack Armstrong and Frank Merriwell, guys I grew up rooting for. Some guys come along who just measure up." - Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner

Here is a coupke of things from just my view, watching the game last Friday night was a discrace to the people who paid to watch, a baseball game should never be let go to a mercy rule, I have never seen a game where a coaching staff gave up once they were 7 runs down, after the 2nd homerun I thought "here goes the warmups in the pen" then another homerun, all of a sudden the we were 7 runs down and fans started to leave once they saw know one warming up in the bullpen............WHY! Baseball will not grow at a national level unless we show the fans even if we are 7 runs down we will still play and show its a honour to play for Queensland, people paid good money on tickets and EXPENSIVE FOOD to watch to only be short changed 2 innings, this is just my thought, but maybe we need to look at our fans and ask them, the people who will support this new ABL team if they want to be taken for granted.....

I was at last sat nights game and thought that finishing the game at the bottom of the 8th inns was very unprofessional. I was enjoying the game and just hated the sudden ending.

According to the Clacko website, game was called early for Light curfew.

I do remember reading on the website that Holloway field has a curfew because of the neighbours as does Norwood oval in Adelaide. The problem with last Saturday night was that the crowd werent informed during the game that this was a possibility of happening, it seemed like the PA announcer was also unaware which made the finish look unprofessional.

Wow, so a baseball fan can't post a general thought without you being sarcastic Ramsrus? Im not refering to the lights out game, but the 10 run mercy rule game, it was horrible that we paid 10 bux, maybe we could get 2 bucks back as the game didnt finish, even in teeball the game goes the full time regardless of the score, just my rant, grain of salt to you ramsrus

Surely you're aware of the chance of a 10 run mercy rule occurring when you buy a ticket though?
You can't seriously expect $2 to be refunded due to a mercy rule. It would be an organisational nightmare. If you want $1 refunded for every inning not played, then you should have to pay $1 extra for every extra inning. If you don't want to pay for the 'expensive food', bring your own. I totally agree with ramsrus, what you've said is so silly. I guess we should resort to match fixing to keep games close then?
