If GCBA cannot develop a few top pitchers for Mudgy or Surfers each sason drawing players from 7 clubs. Big kick in bottom please.
You are not being serious are you? Do you think that those 2 clubs really go out to the other 5 clubs and scout new pitchers......
I wouldn't say "scout" pope. I'm sure the rules are strict about the possible poaching of players between clubs.
Let's say a very talented player from Runaway Bay club becomes old enough to play Seniors. He is a u18 RAMS Rep and attended MLB academy, Is he NOT going to want and play Seniors Majors .
Of course he is, he will wish to play with and against the top players, so naturally he would be attracted to a Majors club.
This does and has happened.
Look at Pine Hills for example, Years ago no Majors, yet developed many talented Juniors, Did they remain and play Div1 Seniors at Pine Hills . No.
They went and played for Windsor and Rapids as they had Majors teams and rightfully so. Why on earth would talented young players who repped for the RAMS, Australia and got signed pro play in the Div1 Seniors Beer Leagues
Gold Coast is a hot bed of talented Juniors developing, they are going to want to play Majors when old enough. At present only 2 Majors teams on the GC, not to say that other clubs on the GC cannot make Majors Criteria of course. Look at Mudgy and PH, I believe this is only the 3rd Majors season for both those clubs.
Edited to add:
Here is a case in point.
I watched outstanding young RAMS player James Linger play on Sunday.
I believe he is from Grafton/Lismore area? In all due respect to the quite strong FNC Lismore League. Is he still playing there? No, of course not. he desires to play in the GBL Major A comp each week.
He played with Mudgy last season I believe and this season with the Windsor Royals club.
