A great initiative, the wider baseball community should be encouraged to volunteer.
Your Brisbane ABL Team Needs Your Help
-Gareth Jones, Thursday, 15 July 2010
Can you help your ABL team?
The Brisbane ABL Team is set to use the Brisbane EKKA to help launch the return of the Australian Baseball League and the Brisbane based team. The Brisbane ABL team will enter an interactive stand in the showbag pavillion at the EKKA held in Brisbane from August 5 - 14, 2010.
The stand will feature an interactive display that will allow the many patrons of the show bag pavillion to test their throwing velocity and compare it with the velocities of professional players. Some of the games higher profile players will also be on hand for autograph sessions at various times throughout the ten days of EKKA.
In order for this activity to be a success, the Brisbane ABL team will need volunteer assistance and is calling for volunteers to register to help staff the ABL stand at the EKKA. The team is asking for a four hour shift in return for an event staff shirt featuring the new ABL team logo and free entry to the EKKA for the day of your shift.
Volunteers will be tasked with one of the following duties with instruction offered at the start of your nominated shift:
Greeting activity participants and explaining the activity.
Operating a Radar device and recording participants results.
Maintaining a safe viewing perimeter and returning balls to participants.
Issuing give away material and grand prizes to participants.
To allow volunteer staff to enjoy the advantages of a free pass to the EKKA, staffing hours have been arranged into four x four hour shifts as below:
Shift 1: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Shift 2: 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Shift 3: 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Shift 4: 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM
If you are available to help get your ABL team off to a flying start please complete and return the Volunteer Registration Form (indicating any shifts you are available to volunteer for) at your earliest convenience and you will be contacted to confirm your volunteer schedule.
BE PART OF IT FROM THE START OF IT!
