From the BQ website:
BASEBALL BACK IN CENTRAL QUEENSLAND Gareth Jones, Thursday, 6 May 2010 Alan Vincent and his 'CQ Mets' committee will attempt to breath new life into CQ baseball.
The newly formed "CQ Mets" Baseball team are attempting to get baseball off the ground in Central Queensland starting with Rockhampton. Alan Vincent has taken the initiative of hosting a senior Baseball Tournament to try to reinvigorate interest in Baseball in the CQ region. The Tournament is set to be held over the Queen's Birthday long weekend - 12 - 14 June 2010 - at CQUniversity. The quality facility at CQU comprises one fully enclosed, full size Baseball field, covered stadium seating for 500 spectators, large dressing rooms with showers and toilet facilities, additional public toilets and canteen. Whilst a draw has not yet been developed each team would play between three and six games with play commencing AM Sat 12 June with the tournament winding up by lunch time Monday to allow teams to travel home.
Baseball Queensland is currently seeking interest from any club or regional team (senior or U18 teams) that would like to participate in this inaugral CQ Tournament. If you have a team interested in participating please contact Gareth Jones Ph: (07) 3876 2222.
The following teams have already responded with an expression of interest to participate in this tournament:

Redcliffe Padres Baseball Club
Ready Towing Vikings - Brisbane Industrial League Team
Alderley Hire Athletics - Brisbane Industrial League Team

Through the great baseball grape vine, I bring news of a former Lightning and writer on these threads. This mountain of a man was seen on the mound pitching, no not pitching, playing catch with the catcher and during his deliveries he was yawning. The yawn started with the leg lift and finished after the ball left the hand. It must be the country air. Get used to it "T" Rocky is like that.

;D I heard of a certain player that ( whilst Fielding ) took a game photo on his iPhone and uploaded it to his Facebook page during the same inning with a story... a true Baseball Pro Journo, very impressive...... just not sure about his fielding skills though

I saw him make what can only be described as an 'elite play' in the hot corner.
and don't be jealous of the heat

I'm not too worried about who is playing in that region, or who is making the paper. I am more pleased to see that baseball has started up again in Central Queensland. This gives the children in that region, as well as the adults, a chance to iether play baseball again, or play it for the first time. The community now has another sport to choice from, apart from bull riding. Well done to BQI staff and all involved in getting this going again, especially the people involved in Rockhampton, putting in the hard yards and hours. From what I have heard, the field, field's were in good condition for the Championship. The people there now have the opportunity to play baseball.

Haha...no harm in a bit of gentle ribbing. the CQ Uni actually has a pretty good field. Better than some I've played on in Brisbane, they did a really good job there. From what I've heard up here, they're fielding interest from Mackay and Bundy about getting teams up into the league. The community now has another sport to choice from, apart from bull riding. Haha.

Thanks T for the information, I have no problem with the ribbing, we do it amongst our own sometimes. Just like to see that the real meaning of baseball being played in CQ is not lost, that is all. It appears sometimes that the QBUA only puts its effects into the SEQ region, however, I/we, like to keep up to date with what is happening in all of Queensland. In the last couple of months, we have conducted seminars in Cairns and Townsville, let's hope that we can, in the next 12 months, conduct one for the CQ region.

Certainly the last couple of months have been good for the development of baseball in CQ. Credit to BQ there. Hopefully it will continue to grow and a junior competition will come out of it.
