What a great tournament for the girls down in Sydney. To see almost 150 girls on the field playing great baseball was a wonderful sight. Thanks must go to
Baseball NSW for hosting the event, (special mention needs to be made for providing the welcome BBQ and allowing the girls to play under lights at B.O.P. (due to a rain delay))
BQ for keeping (and expanding) the girls program after last year’s U12 girl’s tournament.
KJ and all the coaches
Parents who gave their time as scorers, umpires, dugout organizers on the weekend and as assistants in the lead-up to the tournament
All parents for letting the girls go to Sydney to play baseball
But most of all, to the Girls (QLD and NSW) for the quality of Baseball and having FUN on the weekend
I will add a more detailed report of the weekend over the next few days!

I add my two cents worth here as well. Congratulations to all involved, well trained well coached and well behaved.
Will we support it again? The under 16 war cry sums that up. "Hell yeah!"

Girl’s friendship series report(short version) Day 1All started well with all girls and coach’s at the airport on time ready for a 6pm departure, then the dramas started! Flights around us cancelled, virgin juggling seats (even suggested sending some girls on an earlier flight). It was inevitable that our flight would be delayed, and then moved to a different gate. Finally on to the plane. Coach’s to the front, girls to the back (Thankyou BQ/Virgin) Another short delay on the runway. Finally into the air! Land at Sydney, all the girls still together! Get the vans, missing Luggage trailer, another delay! Finally 5 bus convoy sets off to accommodation. Supper served and girls into rooms before mid night (Just!) Day 2Breakfast served at 7, some girls seemed to have had an extra late night! Head off to BOP for double headers for all age groups. KJ led the way (mental note – give him directions next time!). Arrive at the ground. 16’s main diamond, 14’s diamond 2 and diamond 3 for the 12’s. All age groups struggled on day one, the late night, the excitement of the trip etc were all excuses offered! BNSW then provided a BBQ dinner that a restaurant would be proud of (They even invited the girl’s parents to enjoy the fine food!). Then back to the accommodation for an early? Night. (Some parents took the opportunity to wash uniforms until 1.30am! - thanks ladies) Day 3We woke to rain. Still breakfast then to BOP for 9am games. Arrive BOP, and looked at field/weather, games cancelled for day. Sightseeing now on the agenda – well at least after one of the vans is un-bogged. No guess who was driving. Off to Blacktown train station with lunches in hand! Hour train ride to Central, change trains (from platform 9 to platform 18) and off to Circular Quay. All right still all together. Eventually 2 groups formed, one to Lunar Park, and one to Darling Harbour. Onto the Ferries and off we go. 2.30pm receive call from BNSW, grounds 1 and 2 good for night game, first pitch 7.30. Pass word onto coach’s; start to move girls back to Circular Quay for 3.30. 4pm all there, catch train to Central. Back to platform 9 for express to Blacktown, missed it! Looks like the all stations train from platform 16. At the back of the queue, reaching the top of the platform, I notice it is extremely quiet as the train leaves! UM, 44 girls 6 coach’s on the train, 4 girls 1 coach on the platform. (No, that wasn’t intentional) Luckily next train in 12 minutes! Arrive Blacktown, back for dinner (45 min late). Put 12’s to bed, send 14’s 16’s to BOP for night game. Finally our girls swing the bats, make the plays etc. 16’s win our first game of the weekend and the 14’s just miss out! Day 4Early start as first game at 8 to make up for the previous day. U12 to play 4 games (crazy idea), others to play 3 games each. Girls up, eaten, dressed, packed and on the road by 6.30. KJ finally got the directions down pat! U16’s showed last night was not a one off by winning both games, and the 14’s finally managed to put a win on the board. The 12’s followed the older girls examples, by pushing NSW to the limit in all 4, with the last game tied at 2 all, QLD up to bat in the bottom of the last, 2 out, runners on the corners. line drive, and the runner out at second on a bang-bang play as possible winning run crosses home plate. Quick presentation at 3.30 and onto the motorways to catch our 6.30 flight. Everyone through security, quick bite and onto the flight. Coach’s up the front girls down the back (Thanks again BQ), girls slept, coach’s planning for next year. Arrive Brisbane; hand over girls to their parents, everyone happy. Girls/coaches exhausted!
