Stats for Major League are up, here's a quick rundown of the top players, sorry if I missed anyone, this is what I see off the league leaders as some of the best players.
To give a bit of an idea, this years total AVG/SLG/OBP was .275/.384/.443 and a 4.57 ERA.
Jay Nilsson .443/.639/.541
Probably the best offensive player in regards to consistency for the season, batting just below 50% and getting on base over half the time. A whole .041 in average ahead of Jamie Knight, who batted an outstanding .402 for the season. Jay also knocked in 34 RBI's, only bettered in the league by Josh Roberts (36). Funnily enough, he got lead the league hit by pitch (14), including 3 times in a game on two occasions.
Matt Roxburgh .364/.606/.397
Matt was also a standout slugging .606, leading in runs scored, doubles and total bases. He averaged a double every two games and 1.25 runs per game. Matt's speed was also a factor, coming 3rd in the league with stolen bases (22 from 24).
Ben Foster .396/.563/.504
Behind Knight and Nilsson for average is Benny Foster. Batting just below .400 for the year, he had an OBP above .500. Ben picked up 11 doubles and scored 30 runs in 96 AB's. Foster wasn't just handy with the bat, stealing 12 from 12 bases and pitching 19 innings over 5 games at a 1.42 ERA which included a 3 hit shutout against Windsor.
David Sutherland .373/.493/.451 and 11-5, 3.34 ERA
Goofy lead the league in hits (53), at bats (142) and plate appearances (162). Apart from his offensive averages being well above par, he was the workhorse of the league, leading innings pitched (134.2 innings) in 19 appearances for a 11-5 record. Sutherland also wasn't too bad with the leather, recording a .983 fielding average and being part of 15 double plays.
Rodney Wodson 9-2 (2 SV), 1.77 ERA
Rod was one of the most dominant pitchers in the league, striking out 87, 2nd in the league, over 71 innings and 16 appearances. Batters averaged a mere .172 against him as the lefty managed 4 complete games including a 10-0 shutout against Windsor.
Joshua Roberts .370/.696/.554 and 7-0 (1 SV), 2.22 ERA
Although Joshua didn't qualify for category leaders in batting, he belted in a league best 36 RBI's and a 2nd best 7 homers behind Ryan Battaglia (8) and if he qualified, would have lead the league in slugging. Josh was also one of the leagues best pitchers with a 7-0 record and conceding just over 2 runs per 9 innings. He kept batters to .191 and struck out 74.
Matthew Bates 8-2, 2.83 ERA
Matthew was overpowering on the mound leading the league in strikeouts with 97, 41 of which were struck out looking. His 2.83 ERA perhaps not the best representation of his pitching as he restricted batters to a .165 average.
Special mention to Boof, who hit a league best 8 bombs despite struggling with average. Not bad for a kid!
