With a new thread starting up, this is one opportunity I just can't pass up to get in the first response.
Claxton Shield, ABL or any other name, what the game really needs in Qld is some vocal supporters. I like going to watch the games and my kids have a great time and in the end I think it's value for money and good family entertainment. But I don't get that real sense of "Oh my gosh" factor at the end of the game like I do elsewhere. You know, like when you go to the footy where you're walking out after the game and your voice is a little raspy from yelling support. It's not just at the big games either, even at the juniour level it's like a cross between a Library and a monestary where everyone speaks in hushed whispers. For goodness sake people, your supposed to get into the game and this means getting vocal once in while ... it's like Jennifer Lopez said ... Lets get LOUD.
Here's a challenge ... go to the nationals and watch a few games where other states are playing eachother and listen to see if their supporters get into the game ... I'll bet you find the states that are competative at nationals have vocal supporters. Let's face it, if you totally get into a game, there's every chance your kids will too and besides, there's every chance you'll totally get into your kids games too and support your kids and encourage them in the sport as well.
I still remember the state of origin games where the chant of QUEENSLANDER went out when all hope was lost, but the mighty maroons still managed to snatch victory in the dying minutes of the game on the back of this mighty support. Maybe we need a chant of RAMS-LANDER!!!!! (It helps when you say it with passion).

It's true...yes there is individual passion and desire for success but not a united front because there is obviously dissension about some of the player choices. Where has that fantastic Qld spirit gone? If the team choice is not successful, then the selectors and coaches will be answerable but in the meantime, let's be UNITED for these boys. RAMS-LANDER might be just the quirkiness needed to bring a smile and give them the motivation to go the extra mile.
