I stand corrected... it has been pointed out to me that the letter DID say "first past the post". My apologies. Perhaps this is my mis-interpretation of the message.

A lot of good points made here but alot of misheard information also. Even during the day with all the problems regarding numbers of players decisions were made and then changed without notice. Before anyone jumps on anyones case here - this is a unique comp this year regarding its composition and how it would work out. The exact timing of the shield was never stated for reference - only the timing would be held after the preliminary rounds. There was no indication when the split (ML and PL)would take place and if there was 'break' as such. Yes it is disappointing that Windsor only had 6 to a game, however these things happen and sometimes can be uncontroable due to various factors. Its happened befored and it will probably happen again to many clubs. B grade will find it harder and harder to play full strength teams and numbers etc with C grade (Brisbane A) not playing before them. Credit where credit is due here - Padres and fans were decent enough to stick around and be patient and play / watch a game thats what baseball should be about - sportsmanship and being proud of the game. Pine Hills facilities - becoming a very very good place to watch, play and enjoy a game. Well thats all im saying- Whats done is done. Let everyone look forward to the ML and PL. 100% HOMERUN for Nukes first post here. I was there and fairly "hands on" during the day and will have my say. My first statement would be, What about the Windsor B guys that did show up ready to go on time and play hard? ( which they did) I feel sorry for them. I do feel there was some bad communication somewhere in the Windsor club system leading to this problem, No one can blame BQ. I have a lot of respect for the Club, but something is wrong here with a communication problem. The final communication went out as soon as possible via email to ALL Clubs at the same time as quickly as possible after last Prelim Round was confirmed and was public on the BQ website from early in the week. Padres players, Coach and fans turned up ready to go with the same notice, I can only speak for Major B Teams at PH and some guys I know at Beenleigh, but I'm sure if those teams got notice of being in a Trophy Final, they would have been there ready to play on time. I say GAME OVER, Padres won B fair and square , Windsor beat Lightning fair and square in an exciting smash-a-thon A game ( 4 or 5 HR's I think ?) and let's move on to support the new Major Leagues and QLD RAMS Home games.

Thanks Wildpitch, appreciate the honesty, and the open admission. I too have made a mistake once or twice here and had to retract my comments. My original question was if the Padres team had won the Shield, or if it had been awarded on forfeit, or awarded at all? It seems as though that question has been answered, and that Padres were awarded the Shield based on the result. It is a shame that Windsor couldn't get a team out there, but I feel like a number of parties are to blame for that... but that's just my opinion, nothing more...

windsor were very qiute and low key while they waited so i guess they knew that it was disgrace to the game, but that aside we played for a win no scratch match was ever mentioned to us. the low point was when the game was called with one min to go at 2pm half an hr after we ment to have finished with us in front there coach complianed that time was not up hello we waited half an hour.

and we had players that we not selected for the weekend so they should have atleast had 9 since we had 12 and could have had more.

I'm not sure the Padres (I assume you are when you say 'we') having 12 equates to the fact that Windsor should have had 9... I don't believe there is any mathematical correlation between the two facts.

The bolded part above is very interesting snake, I believe you when you say this, BUT I know for a fact that the Windsor players were told that this game would be a scratch match, and the Shield would be played for at a later date.
