Qld seemed to struggle hitting vs SA. Two hits Friday night and one this evening. I give the kids credit for battling, but we seemed to be overmatched against an average team. Hopefully they'll get back on track in their next series.

Tough weekend in SA for our team. Lets not let these lost games put us off our goal to support our boys next weekend and every home game weekend in person. We have a young mostly inexperienced team who need our moral support. There are still 7 rounds to go!
Just think parents, if we don't suport the ABL / Claxton Shield now, your children may not get the opportunity to play in a few years. For those older players (some of you may have played in the ABL), you may be sitting back thinking things were better in your day and maybe they were, but our boys need your support as well.
As Confucius said "Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall."
Up, up and on RAMS!!!!

No one is saying not to support the Qld team -- but, we need to put a team out that can compete. Yes, they're young and inexperienced. But, they're also struggling at this level. 11 wild pitches? 19 walks? 6 errors to SA's 2? Shut out twice and getting 2 hits in the first game and 1 in the second? They need more than our support. Remember, SA had one win last year, didn't they?

Agree 100% snoball, but, if the players who are able to compete were available, wouldn't they be out there? As far as I am aware, a number of players have been shut down by their pro clubs for a period and some will not be allowed to play at all. There are also some injuries in the squad. If these pro players are not going to be available, all we can offer the players who are available is our support.
Also, if there are non pro more experienced players who are able, I don't hear about many of them turning up to RAMS training. As far as I am aware (and I stand to be corrected if I am wrong), the trainings were open invitiations to anyone interested in playing for the RAMS.

ramsrus -- you're correct. We both agree with each other. We're playing the players we have. Parents and friends will come out and watch them play. But, if we're going to sell the team and game to the general public, we're going to have to put together a team that performs. Does it come back to our competition? Do we have a strong enough core to compete with other states? From the outside, it looks like we don't. I was in Adelaide for the 2nd game on Saturday. Talking to clubbies there, they are excited and enthusiastic about their local competition. Having a look at the comp here -- most involved are disenchanted with how it's being put together. It is thought that the new system will strengthen the comp and increase spectator attendance. I hope so. That will then flow into the Claxton Shield team.

Those few who saw last nights game against the U18's should agree that the Rams hitting line-up looks a lot more dangerous. Rams are close to full strength now so some wins this weeknd is a must.

I'd have to agree bronco. also Joel behind the plate will give a lot more experience and confidence to the RAMs Pitchers/battery ( no disrespect to previous catchers of course. ) But having the Aussie Catcher incumbent ready to play has to be a RAMS bonus. The HEAT have a serious batting lineup themselves so I'm looking forward to seeing 3 very Hard games and hopefully at least 2 Wins for the good guys.

Just want to let you all know that the RAMS are ready for a war this series, laying down will not be an option, we will take the fight to them , not wait for them to come to us, we will fight till no more RAMS are standing. We will be the masters of our enemy, so be it until there is no enemy but victory for Queensland. Amen

Just flicked through todays Courier mail newspaper sport section to see if there was a write up or advert for this weekends Claxton Shield games given they are home games for Qld. Surprise surprise - nothing. (actually its no surprise) Can someone explain how the organisers and financial contributors (ie BQ) intend to get backsides on seats without advertising to the general sporting public. Maybe someone needs to remind them you can't sell a secret.
This behaviour by BQ should serve as a reminder to the people looking to organise the 2010 ABL phoenix. Don't waste your time or money! With US drafted players shut down by their clubs how do you get the best players heading up your competition? Fans won't pay to watch low quality games like the QLD vs SA game recently, what with massive levels of wild pitches, walks and 2 hits by Qld. Don't waste money or resources on this fiasco of a competition.

I think a "chucker" is the thrower in a baseball "match".
