Looking over several of the old threads, I have an idea I might just throw out there for thought.
Before I begin I will let you know I am from a Gold Coast club and travel to every away game every second week and have done my entire junior and senior career.
Travel and early mornings are something that is not new to any sport but I have an idea to lessen it to an extent and maybe create a larger following for our fledgling sport.
I am suggesting a central location in a brisbane suburb with at least 8 full size baseball diamonds. (I understand this is an expensive and large logistical undertaking) but I am looking for feedback here both positive and negative.
Majority or Every round of the Elite GBL and Junior Division I schedule is held at this location so at anytime 16 teams from different clubs are all at the same location bringing family friends and spectators to one venue creating a better atmosphere.
The canteen can either be rostered out to different clubs on rotation or the license sold to a private firm and a share of the profits distributed back to BQI and the clubs involved.
Satellite rounds at northern and southern locations can be rostered in over the course of a season if need be but the idea is to have as many games at one location to create an atmosphere that is lacking currently.
The lower grades can still work on a per venue basis or be structured to use the facility when they can be accomodated.
Thoughts?
