Juniors GBL draw now published. www.qld.baseball.com.au/cm/default.asp?SID=407I understand that Gold coast have their own u14 and U16 League.. but if Narangba can travel to Toowoomba, Beenleigh, and vice versa.. Why can't the strong Gold Coast U14 and U16 teams get more involved in GBL Junior Leagues. Is it the travel distance and time?

because: when the gc comp is stronger, they want nothing to do with brisbane. when the brisbane comp is stronger (major A), then they want to be part of it. duh.
so distance and travel time are obviously not relevant factors.

Why can't the strong Gold Coast U14 and U16 teams get more involved in GBL Junior Leagues. Because the strong junior teams don't have senior teams in the GBL comp.

Max, don't let the truth get in the way of a good bagging! The Coasts U16 is so strong that they don't have an U16 comp. They have an U17 comp, as which there are only 4 teams. So if 2 teams went to GBL, then the other 2 would have an exciting comp over the season. The coast are in the process of rebuilding their older juniors. And hopefully in the future, you will be asking that they not have teams in the U14 and U16 GBL. ;D

Thanks for the facts pope.
Personally. I'd prefer to see all clubs in SE QLD from U14 up play in one comp. regardless of whether they have Senior teams in GBL or not.
But why not have teams like Nerang, Coomera, Robina etc. in the SQBL Seniors? Petrol cost??? driving time???
Why does GCBA have this "Monroe doctrine" isolationist policy?
Baseball is too small a sport to have just isolated regional play in SE QLD. LL and younger for sure just play within region, but U14 up let's play more travel ball as they call it in the USA.

I heard that cairns and mount isa have good comps. perhaps we should include them as well? obviously, I exaggerate to clarify: the line must be drawn somewhere. 50km from brisbane GPO? 100km? 200km? 400km? 600km?
maybe the gcba is smart enough to realise that the added 2 hour travel time and $40 or $50 it costs to drive to windsor or indians is just not worthwhile? it's certainly not to the benefit of baseball to drain parents of these extra funds, ultimately increasing the playing cost of baseball which is high enough as it is.
don't sell it to me (I can afford to fly to cairns every second week for a game). sell it to the parents who are sticking their hands in their pockets for the extra money. what do you say to them? if you can't afford it, take a hike (pun intended)? very generous of you...

Madmax, been reading your posts ranting about the GC teams with interest. Why are you so "MAD" at the GC teams? ?
