Have been popping in to see afew U14 games around the place. Some interesting coach behaviour kicking sand and screaming at the kids. Some very interesting home game umpiring with a fantastically floating zone all over the place especially for the opposing team. have a look at some of those results. How about some auditing/ support for those umps and coaches so they know if they are on the money OR not!!

This brings me to another question, if games go that way in Juniors and a team has trouble getting outs, is switch hitting for the team way ahead acceptable to try and make outs? I don't think switch hitting is the way to go, as this may contribute to some unwanted habits creeping into the player game. My opinion would be, once the 10 run mercy point has been reached and the losing teams next turn at bat does not alter the 10 run rule, call the game and declare the winner. With what time is left, mix both teams up so they are reasonably even and play the remaining time out. Players don't just learn from coaches, they also learn from other players. This would also bring back the fun back into the sport, especially for the losing team. This may not work, but that would be my opted solution, because the game is all about the kids. The good, the average and the tryers.
