From the BQ site below, Congratulations to Scott Brockie, Jared Long and "Westy" , a very good team to lead the kids in China.
Scott Brockie from Carina Redsox will head up the BQ Little League China tour to August later this year. Scott's extensive coaching experience and proven success within the Little League age group will be valuable during the team's six game tournament in Beijing, China. The tournament will pit the BQ Little League team against a team from Western Australia, a team from South Australia and various Chinese teams from 10 - 18 August 2009. David West from Redcliffe Leagues Padres will tour as the team's Executive Officer and brings extensive experience managing junior touring teams including Chaperone to the Australian contingent to the 17th World Children's Baseball Fair 2006 in Hokkaido, Japan. Jared Long from Pine Hills Lightning Baseball Club will travel as the Assistant Coach for the China Team. Jared holds industry credentials in the Sport Development and Coaching fields and is currently studying to be a secondary school teacher. Jared has assisted in Baseball Queensland recruitment and player develpment programs and has also represented Queensland at the 2008 U23 Tournament in Adelaide.
The team will hold try outs for any interested Little League players (born between 1/05/96 to 30/04/98) on Sunday 29 March 1:00pm - 3:00pm at Carina Redsox Baseball Club - Clem Jones Sporting Complex, Zahel St. Carina.

In these times where we are trying to promote our game and have young players want to follow in the footsteps of our best players we have our tryouts for BQ LL Tour at the same time as our Major League Grand Final? ? Shouldn't we be promoting this Sunday as 1 of the highlights of the baseball season and trying to get as many little league players and their parents along to watch??

Few coaches are skilled enough to pick a team on 1 trial puff, when would you suggest they have trials if not this Sunday? And noone goes to grand final day. even members of the clubs playing. How many Carina kids have an interest in Surfers V Indians/Rapids?

So we don't even try to promote baseball anymore. Is that the way forward for the sport?
All of the teams involved will have Claxton Shield, former professional and Olympians playing. Maybe Carina kids may be interested in watching players of that calibre.

The team has to be named by the 6th April. That is 2 weeks to pick the final team. Players have other winter sporting commitments on a Saturday so Sunday is the only day available to train. Unless your going to cover the cost of lights to have a mid week trial?
